Urban explorers film stream inside closed Swindon Oasis pool
Two urban explorers appear to be inside the Oasis in a YouTube video posted on the account Tress_Pass_South, walking around the site while filming the run-down state of the pool and slides.
The video shows graffiti on the walls, dirt around the pool and bits of the ceiling peeling off.
November will mark five years since the Oasis Leisure Centre closed and campaigners claim the site is rapidly deteriorating due to neglect and Save Oasis Swindon has recently launched a petition calling on Swindon Borough Council to commission an investigation and public enquiry into its closure.
(Image: YouTube) Plans to rebuild the centre were given the green light in July 2025, and besides a short stint of filming by Apple TV for a new sci-fi show, the site has remained empty and closed to the public.
But it is not the first time urban explorers have entered the site.
On Saturday, July 19, a group of TikTokers entered the abandoned Swindon leisure centre and began live-streaming from inside, from the TikTok account urban.xplores.
The account has almost 13,000 followers, and hundreds tuned in from 2.34pm until 3.11pm to watch a behind-the-scenes tour of what the Oasis currently looks like inside.
The live stream was captioned: “Welcome to the wild side of urban exploring. From abandoned hotels to secret tunnels – it’s all real, raw and adrenaline-fuelled.
Commenters were quick to identify the site as Swindon’s Oasis Centre.
For those who have spent years campaigning for the reopening of the leisure centre, the ‘behind-the-scenes tour’ was not welcomed.
Taking to X, a spokesperson for the Save Oasis Swindon campaign group said: “Someone’s live inside the Oasis. Presumably Seven Capital aren’t bothering with security at the moment?”
Less than one hour after the video went live, a heavy police presence at the Oasis was also reported.
One eyewitness told the Swindon Advertiser they saw “tonnes of police cars there at the Oasis” and officers “bursting through pool doors.”
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson, previously commenting on urban exploring, said: “While it is not a criminal offence to trespass, it is clear from this website that these people are going into structures that are either derelict or are going to be demolished.
“Our advice to these people would be to stay out of these structures because if they injure themselves it could be hours or even days before help arrives.
“If something does happen, it also puts the lives of those people in the emergency services at risk when they have to rescue these people as well.”
