Water Safety Day offers families a free swim at city pool
SEVEN NEWS. WITH WARMER WEATHER MOVING IN, YOU MIGHT BE THINKING ABOUT HITTING THE POOL, RIGHT? BUT BEFORE YOU DIVE IN, YOU’LL WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT SAFETY IS PART OF YOUR PLAN. YEAH. TO MARK NATIONAL WATER SAFETY DAY, THE CITY IS HOSTING A FREE SWIM EVENT AT EISENHOWER POOL. NOW, THE EVENT RUNS TOMORROW FROM 11 TO 4. FAMILIES CAN ENJOY FREE SWIM TIME AND IMPORTANT SAFETY TIPS FOR EXPERTS ON SITE. PEOPLE COME. THEY CAN COME AND SEE THE BOOTHS AND INTERACT WITH ALL OF THE PROGRAMS THAT ARE GOING TO BE HERE. OPEN SWIM STARTS AT 12 AND IT WILL BE UNTIL FOUR, BUT ALSO AT 12. WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A PARENT TAUGHT SWIM LESSON, SO ANYONE WITH KIDDOS BETWEEN THE AGES OF SIX MONTHS TO TWO YEARS CAN COME AND PARTICIPATE IN THIS FREE PARENT TAUGHT SWIM LESSON WHILE WE OPEN UP OUR POOL. YEAH, NOW THAT’S A LOT OF FUN! THE EVENT ALSO FEATURES RAFFLES TO WIN FREE SWIM LESSONS, WATER GEAR, AND OTHER FUN PRIZES. THIS IS ACTUALLY REALLY IMPORTANT BECAUSE IT TAKES JUST TWO SECONDS AND A BABY COULD FALL INTO A POOL LITERALLY SECONDS. SO I DON’T EVEN LIKE TO THINK ABOUT THAT. BUT I GET WHAT YOU’RE SAYING. Parents get a chance to give early lessons to kids 6 months to 2 years old
Warm weather and sparkling blue water are ideal conditions for National Water Safety Day, especially when they involve families enjoying free swimming at one of the city’s public pools.The event at the outdoor Eisenhower Pool at 11001 Camero Ave. NE, runs from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., with the open swim beginning at 12 p.m. Experts will be on the scene offering safety dos and don’ts.Also beginning at noon is a parent-taught swim lesson for children 6 months to 2 years old.”People can come, they can see the booth and interact with all the programs that are going to be here,” said Julia Romero, who works for Albuquerque’s aquatics division.There will also be a raffle, in which the prizes will be — you guessed it — free swim lessons.
